Where My Love Grows

Mother’s Day Makeover Project Mothers from 2021

Carrie-Sam

The first of two Mother’s Day Makeover Project reveals, Carrie-Sam’s room! I want to first start off with what an amazing mother of 5 boys she is. I have gotten to know Carrie-Sam over the process of this makeover and see how kind, patient, loving and just a beautiful soul she is. I feel blessed just getting to know her and her wonderful family. She triumphs through her battle with breast cancer and is a friend to all she meets. I knew she needed and deserved a place were she could go to find peace with in the chaos of life.

How the design process worked

We first met for a video chat where she showed me around her room. She told me what was working, what wasn’t working in the space, her style, what they want and what they need. She sent me a Pinterest board of what her dream bedroom looked like and from there my wheels started turning. I made a list of things we needed and reached out to local business and our community to donate items, cash or time to help make her dream bedroom a reality. I even scanned my home for items I no longer use or were just collecting dust! I hadn’t actually step foot in her room till this past week. She would send me measurements I needed or pictures so that I knew what I was working with. Most of everything was a surprise to her and she liked it that way! There are not enough surprises as adults so I was happy to be able to give a big surprise! We had a few bumps in the road for our time line with COVID lockdowns, family health issues and items out of stock but I’m so grateful for everyone’s patience and that it all came together perfectly! I had soooo much fun designing and creating Carrie-Sam’s dream bedroom for her. Carrie-Sam and her whole family love the bedroom transformation. As she said, it’s so beautiful and that their isn’t a single thing she doesn’t love about it and most of all she loves that she finally has a finished room in her home. Something she had been trying to work on but I can imagine how hard that would be to finish with 5 kids and battling Cancer there wouldn’t leave much room for much else. My heart is so full knowing I was able to help her complete her room and to do it better then she imagined.

All I wanted to was create a space she could find peace and healing and in doing so I was to help them love their home more and relieve some stress.

Now for a shout out to all our businesses and people that donated to make this project possible!

Rachel Froese

It wasn't a easy decision with 77 nominations that came in to choose our winners for the Mother's Day Makeover Project. Rachel is an incredible women that conquered cancer when she was 18 years old and was told she may never have children. Years later she is now blessed with 4 amazing children. Hearing what strength, patience and kindness this mother has while she faces the battle with cancer once again made us want to shower her in love instantly. She also stood by her husband as they both underwent cancer treatments at the same time. I knew that this bedroom makeover would be beneficial to both of them. A place where they both could go to find peace.

Shortly after the completion of their bedroom makeover, we were deeply saddened with the news that the Froese family had to say goodbye to their father, husband and friend.

Keith was diagnosed with mesothelioma, a rare lung cancer in September of 2020. He battled through chemo treatments and immunotherapy, hoping to be there for his family for as long as possible. Keith’s strength ran out and he is now resting in peace

Rachel continues to battle her breast cancer and be a supportive and loving mother to their four children.

If you would like to help Rachel and her children at this difficult time, please consider donating to their Go Fund Me page to help lessen the stress this family is feeling.

How the design process worked

Rachel Froese received a master bedroom makeover from Where My Love Grows and, in the weeks, following the winner announcement, we met for a design consultation to know their needs, wants and style. From there designed the space using materials and products provided by our sponsors Hayduk Lumber and Hardware Ltd., Leduc Wall Fashions Saradee Boutique and Leduc Co-op Home Centre. As well as working with HAVEN furniture and interiors and Sutherland Carpentry Services Inc. to help me to transform the room with their skills.

A huge shout out to The Light House Cowork, Market House and Hold the Door - Everyday Concierge Services for helping make this project a reality, it would have not been possible or gone as smoothly without their help.
